Voluntary organisations Being Human Foundation and Parivartan and the locals of Tarbha held a demonstration before the block office here demanding fulfilment of their demands.
The demonstrators demanded recognition of Tarbha as a sub-division, appointment of a Tehsildar and an NAC Executive Officer, shifting of the country made liquor shop from public place and construction of a bus-stand.
Tarbha is a block headquarters town. People of 21 gram panchayats (GPs) of this block are depending on the town for their works with the Government. But unfortunately, there is no Tehsildar while many other posts are also vacant in the block office.
This block has been always neglected by the administration. Due to the staff crunch in this block, people of this area are facing lot of problems. So, the Government should declare Tarbha block as a sub-division, demanded local leader Baldev Bedbak.
local MlA Niranjan Pujari is getting a lot of political support from this block. But unfortunately, the block is backward compared to other blocks of Subarnapur district. If the demands are not fulfilled soon, the agitation would be intensified, threatened youth leader Srikumar Mahanta.
later, a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister was submitted to BDO Prasanna Pande. Among others, Somnath Mishra, Pabitra Mishra, Suresh Mishra, Bhabani Panda, BB Bagarty, Gupteswar Bapi, AES College president Amrut Naik, Gyana Naik, Suraj, Sradhhanjali Mishra and Kedar Dash were present.
