The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Sunday arrested a person in connection with the Puri-Hatia Tapaswini Express fire incident at the Puri railway station on March 22.
The accused was identified Ashok Pradhan, a resident of Brahmagiri in Puri district. He had allegedly set fire to the train, which was stationed on platform number 4, police said.
Sources said that the fire had engulfed four sleeper compartments of the express train after the accused in an inebriated state threw a burning cotton cloth at the train.
Fortunately, the train had no passengers. Later, the GRP had begun an investigation into the incident.
