A tanker driver, Veer Singh, drove 25 hours nonstop covering a distance of 1,180 km from Rourkela to Sagar in Madhya Pradesh to deliver oxygen to a Government hospital there.

Singh’s assistant Gula Ram gave him support by keeping his spirits high during the long, arduous journey.

After the tanker reached Sagar, its crew was provided VVIP-level security with police vehicles escorting the tanker to clear the way to ensure safe transport of oxygen. The tanker reached Sagar on April 18 and gave much-needed relief to the administration.

After safe delivery of the tanker at Sagar’s BMC Hospital, Singh was found drowsy.

Significantly, Madhya Pradesh has been reeling under oxygen and ventilator crunch when Covid patients are battling for life in hospital beds. The bravery shown by Singh and his assistant was applauded by the hospital authorities in MP and also by many in social media.
