Manoranjan Samal, ASI of Police, Tangi police Station in Cuttack district, was arrested by the Vigilance police for accepting bribe of Rs 4,000 on Tuesday.
A trap was laid Vigilance officers when Samal took the bribe from one Amulya Ratna Panda as per his previous demand. Apprehending arrival of a Vigilance team, he tried to escape from the spot by riding a motorcycle throwing away the bribe amount on the road. He was then caught by the Vigilance sleuths.
Samal had demanded the bribe from Panda of Sanakesharpur for not to include him and his younger brother as accused in the chargesheet of a case.
