Tamil, Bihari rule Home Dept: BJP

The BJP has alleged that the people and their properties are not safe under the State Government as Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Home Department is being managed by a Tamil in the State Secretariat and by a Bihari outside it. “The incident of a judge being tied and then his house looted occurred for the first time in the State. And a second dacoity committed in the judge’s neighbour’s house within a few days had never happened before. Similarly, the incident of tribals leaving their village in fear of Maoists indicates that the law and order situation has broken down fully in the State,” party’s senior leader Bijay Mohapatra said in a statement.

He said it has all happened as the Home Department is being managed by a Tamil in the 3rd floor of the State Secretariat and a Bihari in the outside and, hence, is inflicted with TB. “The people have lost rights to live normal life. They have started examining performance of the Home Department and would give a befitting reply at an appropriate time,” Mohapatra said.

Regarding BJP Mahasampark Abhiyan, Mohapatra said party workers would meet all 31 lakh new BJP members and involve them in various activities of the party. He hoped that the number of new members might cross 35 lakh-mark during the coming drive. “This mission will emerge as a battle readiness and bring victory for the party in coming days,” he said.

Earlier in the day, a special meet had been organised on the party’s ‘Mahasampark Abhiyan under the chairmanship of BJP State president KV Singh Deo at its head office. The party decided that a special relation fortnight would be undertaken from Bharaitiya Jan Sangh founder Shyamprasad Mukherjee’s death anniversary June 23 to his birthday July 6. Party leaders would meet all new members in their respective areas during this fortnight, Singh Deo said.
