A technical paper meeting on ‘wireless communication - 1G to 4G: What they meanIJ’ was held at the Institution of Engineers (India) here on Tuesday.
The institution’s Honorary Secretary Dr B Subudhi gave a brief introduction on the theme and Chairman U Mishra spoke on the advancement of wireless communication and its contribution to human development. The main speaker, NIT Electronics and Communication Engineering Prof Department Dr SK Patra, spoke about the brief history of wireless communication. He elaborated on different phases of wireless technology from 1G to 4G.
Explaining about evolution path from 1G to 4G and their advantages and disadvantages, Dr Patra also spoke on other wireless systems like Wi-Fi Networks, WlAN, WiMAX (802.16), Bluetooth and IEEE 802.15.4/ Zigbee Radios. The presentation was followed by a brief interactive discussion on the central theme.
