The revival process of the Talcher-based fertiliser factory is satisfactory; and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be requested to lay the foundation-stone for the revamped project before Dusshera, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan said after a review meeting in New Delhi on Thursday.

Official sources said `8,000 crore would be spent for revival of the fertiliser plant; and the work is expected to start after monsoon. The plant would get its feedstock through gas obtained from advanced technology of coal-gasification.

Besides, the upcoming lNG Terminal at the Dhamra Port in Odisha would be the supply point of lNG to three fertiliser plants at Sindri, Barauni and Gorakhpur and the revival plans are vital in attaining self-sufficiency in fertiliser production in the country, Pradhan said.

The cumulative investment in fertiliser plants, pipeline and lNG Terminal at Dhamra would be more than `50,000 crore.

At the review meeting held under the chairmanship of Feritiliser and Chemicals Minister Ananth Kumar, Power, Coal, New and Renewable and Mines Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandviya were present.
