The Union Government has assured that the Talcher unit of the Fertiliser Corporation of India ltd (FCIl) would be revived soon.
Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Anant Kumar has informed this in response to a letter of Industries Minister Debi Prasad Mishra.
Mishra had recently written to Kumar requesting him to take steps for speedy revival of the Talcher unit of the Fertiliser Corporation of India ltd (FCIl). Mishra, reminding Kumar of decisions taken by him in April 2015, had argued that revival of the unit would certainly bring benefits to farmers of the State and the region as a whole as it would boost agricultural activities.
In response, Kumar said the revival of the FCIl Talcher unit is progressing as per the fixed timelines. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) among consortium PSUs like CIl, RCF, GAIl and FCIl has been signed. The joint venture agreement among the consortium partners has also been signed. The selection and finalisation of coal gasification technology is in progress and it would be completed by the scheduled time, assured the Union Minister.
