Take remedial steps: SPCB tells Joda civic body

Published on:

The State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) has written a letter to the Joda Municipality Executive Officer to take necessary measures for treatment of the waste water discharged to the Sona river.

This followed a report news published in The Pioneer of April 19 last under headline ‘Toilet, firm outflow polluting Sona river’.  The SPCB had earlier issued instruction for time-bound action plan on the issue, but it was not followed till date.

Sources close to State Pollution Control Board, Keonjhar Regional Officer Soham Giri revealed an analysis of the water quality of the river will be done at five points, starting from the Camphating to the Birakala bridge near Tata Sponge where water quality is alleged to be severely polluted.

The Joda Vikash Parishad hailed the step taken by the SPCB.
