Controversial doctors of the Talcher sub divisional headquarters hospital SDMO Dr Anil Mishra and his wife Dr Indira Rath have been transferred. The action followed after allegations of irregularities had been levelled against them by a forum, Soochana Kranti, and a news item published in this paper on July 28 last.
While Mishra was transferred to Malkangiri, Rath was transferred to Bhubaneswar. However, the doctor couple allegedly tried to revoke the transfer orders by exerting political lobby but it did not work, according to sources.
Soochana Kranti had alleged against the doctors of SDH Talcher of negligence and corruption. The district Collector Angul had taken the issue seriously.
The forum also had approached former Health Secretary Arti Ahuja. Sources said that after receiving the allegations, the Health department had ordered a probe and later, issued a show cause against the doctor couple.
More importantly, after the action against Mishra and Rath, other doctors across Angul district have become more punctual and are attending their duties in a regular manner.
