Tainted Puri RI moves bail plea in HC

Published on:

Former Puri South and Balukhand Revenue Inspector (RI) Basant Kumar Mohanty, who is in Vigilance net and absconding since January 29, has moved the Orissa High Court praying for an anticipatory bail.

He has shown his illness as ground for bail, sources said. Meanwhile, after failing to nab Mohanty after 20 days of his absconding, the Vigilance department is confronting a moral dilemma on its efficiency. The department is also facing questions on a narrative going down that a staff member of the probe agency had given prior intimation to Mohanty about the raid at his house in order to save him. After such news was flashed by some newspapers, the Vigilance is under pressure for action on the staff.
