Following Vigilance raids on houses of in-charge RI of Puri South and Balukhand revenue circle Basant Kumar Mohanty, the district administration has expelled him from job. His expulsion came into force after the Vigilance traced out assets worth Rs 1.54 crore in simultaneous raids at nine different places including his Friends Colony residence in Puri and paternal home at Rajnagar of Kendrapada district. Since raids on Friday last, Mohanty has been absconding. Sources suspected that Mohanty might have left Odisha and was living in Kolkota.
Sources also said that he was in contactof a lawyer on how to get anticipatory bail from the Orissa High Court. Even it is heard that the properties seized by Vigilance are very negligible as Mohanty owns some hotels and huge acres of valuable land near Puri seashore.
