'System to be blamed for huge pendency of law cases'

Published on:

There is a huge hue and cry over the pendency of cases in different courts in the country. Who should be blamedIJ Don’t blame each other. It is the existing system which is responsible, said former judge of Odhsa High Court Justice Papanna here on Saturday. Speaking at a national convention on judicial reforms organised by the Bhubaneswar Chapter of Forum for Fast Justice, he said it is true that justice delayed is justice denied. He agreed that there is a need for revolutionary changes in judicial reforms.

Chief speaker OP Monga said people have lost faith in the judiciary; that is why they are taking help of unscrupulous politicians, goons and mafia. He emphasised that there is a need for a national movement to reform the judiciary. Forum founder Bhagbanbhai Riyan said nobody thought about reforming the judiciary earlier. The judiciary should be user-friendly and corruption-free though it would take some time.

Among others, Kamal Kant and forum convenor Pravin Bhai Patel also spoke on the occasion. President of the Odisha Chapter of the forum Yudhisthir Maharana was awarded the second OP Monga Award. Bhubaneswar Chapter president Manoj Jena presided over the meet.
