ADM Yudhistir Nayak called a meeting with Odisha Synthetic Shramik Sangha members led by Industrial loser Citizen Forum president Debashisha Hota and assured them to settle their compensation shortly.
The discussion was held in presence of the DlO Pradip Mohanty and AlO Narendra Gaipai. The District Administration issued a letter in this regard.
After strong assurance, Sangha postponed the proposed mass suicide in front of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s house at Bhubaneswar.
On June 3, the workers union had handed over a notice to District Collector Roopa Roshan Sahoo threatening suicide on June 10 in front of Dhenkanal Collectorate.
Subsequently, the ADM called a meeting on June 6. Sangha Office bearers requested the ADM to compel the company to clear all compensation and dues.
Notably, these workers of the Dhenknal-based synthetic plant have been retrenched without being offered their compensation.
