State Women Commission chairperson lopamudra Buxipatra on Friday organised a camp court here. She was accompanied by members of the Commission Snigdha Panigrahi and Susri Snehanjali Mohanty.
43 cases of dowry torture, death, cheating and harassment were put before the court of which 31 cases were taken up. Besides Baxipatra, Sub Collector Pratap Kumar Mishra, Tehsildar Dharitri Mishra and DSP Debabrata Pradhan were present.
According to sources, out of 31 cases, 12 cases were settled amicably while seven cases were referred to the SP of Kendrapada and the DPO to take action after conducting inquiry.
Buxipatra stated that though the Govt has implemented several laws and projects to curb atrocity against women, but the cases are not showing any sign of dent because of mindset of the people and lack of awareness.
