The MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) has decided to establish a Research Chair in the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) here.
An MoU to this effect was signed between MSSRF founder Prof MS Swaminathan and KIIT & KISS founder Dr Achyuta Samantaon Sunday. This is the first-ever initiative of the MSSRF to establish a Research Chair in any private institute.
As per the MoU, both organisations would work jointly for promotion of knowledge and skill empowerment for less privileged children in India. They would develop a resource centre for imparting knowledge on biodiversity and climate change to the children. Further, the MSSRF and the KISS would engage in food and nutrition security based on community-based intervention and research.
Expressing his happiness, Prof Swaminathan, known as Father of Green Revolution in India, said the KISS is already an agent of social transformation, having transformed lives of thousands of tribal children. Dr Samanta is a great visionary who has established a great institution like the KISS singlehandedly. “I salute this great man for his remarkable contribution to the society.”
He hoped that both organisations would begin working jointly from Koraput district.
