Even as the Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) has spent a lot of money under different schemes to beautify the city, the authorities’ dillydallying attitude to clean the Ramalingeswar pond has worried the denizens.
The city’s sanitation programmes have failed to achieve the desired targets due to weak planning, mismanagement of wastages and irregularities.
Earlier, a private organisation was given the charge to create a water sports organisation but no work has started yet. The garbage is still being dumped in the pond. It has turned to be an open urinal.
Though the main road to the Gautam Cinema Hall has subsided at many places, no repair has been undertaken. Still, four wheelers are being parked on the road. Mishaps may occur anytime on the road, apprehend locals. The locals have demanded that the pond be renovated and the road repaired at the earliest.
