The Higher Education Department has constituted a governing body for SVM Autonomous College, Jagatsinghpur, in pursuance of guidelines issued by University Grants Commission. While Prof Kamala Prasad Mohapatra was nominated as president of the Governing body, the members are Dasharathi Satapathy (IAS), Registrar, NISER Dr Abhaya Kumar Naik, former Income Tax Commissioner Sarat Kumar Dash, journalist Sugyan Choudhury, social worker Binayak Pattnaik. Regional Director of Higher Education was nominated by Government of Odisha while two other members are to be nominated byUGC and by Utkal University respectively very soon. Associate Professor of Zoology Dr Rabindra Kumar Mohanty and Reader in Chemistry Amitabala Mohanty have been chosen as teachers' representatives. Principal of SVM Autonomous College Dr Niranjan Biswal has been appointed as secretary (ex-officio) ofGB. The constitution of the newly GB has spread a wave of happiness among students and almamaters, besides among locals.
