Coming down heavily on the Odisha Association for the Blind for suspending 16 visually-impaired persons from the association on Wednesday, the victims demanded immediate Government intervention against the suspension move.

On Wednesday, the association suspended 16 of its members by levelling “false allegations” against them.“We strongly condemn the suspension move of the association. We are fighting for justice and not against the association. While the Khordha Collector directed the association to ensure our stay at the association building, the authorities suspended us,” said Bhagaban Pati, one of the victims in a Press release.

Pati said, “We have already approached Khordha Additional District Magistrate Umakanta Tripathy, who assured us to take necessary steps in this regard.”

“We reiterate our demand for action against association president Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, vice-president Jugal Kishore Pradhan, general secretary Mihir Nayak and treasurer Muralidhar Das as they are involved in fund irregularities of the association,” said another victim, Prakash Kumar Mohapatra.
