Reiterating her claim that her husband Narayan Sahu is not involved in the two mysterious murder cases of Cuttack city, Geetanjali Sahu of Nayagarh district approached a trial court here on Wednesday urging the magistrate to procure certain footages of CCTVs asserting that these are necessary as evidence to prove her husband innocent during the trial of the case.
The city police had picked up mentally-disturbed Narayan (35) from his native village in Nayagarh district on July 29 for his alleged involvement in last month’s serial killings of the city in which three unidentified homeless persons were murdered while they were sleeping on footpaths at three different localities on the nights of July 22 and July 23.
While City DCP Akhilesvar Singh had claimed that Narayan has confessed during interrogation of killing two persons for previous rivalry, Narayan’s family and acquaintances consistently maintained that he was not in Cuttack city from July 21 evening to July 29 morning. Instead Narayan was in Bhubaneswar and Nayagarh during this period.
“Whether people have seen Narayan in Bhubaneswar and Nayagarh during this period will be ascertained by examining the footages of CCTV cameras installed at Salia Sahi in Bhubaneswar and Sunamuhi bus stand in Nayagarh,” said Geetanjali’s advocate Byomakesh Tripathy.
