As part of the probe into the illegal financial transactions of arrested soothsayer Surendra Mishra alias Sura Baba and Sarathi Baba alias Santosh Raul, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday interrogated two close aides of the two self-proclaimed godmen.
According to sources, Mishra’s accountant Manoranjan Acharya was grilled by the ED sleuths for over four hours.
ED sleuths are trying to obtain vital information about the income of the ashram, donors and investments of the ashram, the sources said.
Sources in the ED said Acharya was questioned on the source of funds of the ashram run by the godman and investment of it thereafter.
The ED also questioned Sisir Khatua, a close aide of another self-proclaimed godman Sarathi Baba.
Sources revealed that the ED quizzed Khatua on the financial affairs of the ashram run by Sarathi at Barimul in Kendrapada. He was grilled for three hours. Both the self-proclaimed godmen are now in jail after their wrongdoings were exposed.
