The Odisha Development Authority (ODA) Court of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Monday served notices to Sura baba alias Surendra Mishra, chief of the Trahi Achyut ashram, and 20 others for illegal construction of houses and temples at Jhiinti on the outskirts of
the city.
The court issued three notices to arrested godman Sura Baba asking him to depose before it on October 28. Sura Baba along with his two sons is now lodged at Jharpada Special Jail here.
Even though the Ashram comes under BDA limits, approval was not taken from it before the construction was taken up by Sura Baba in the Ashram premises. Jhiinti Shasan came under BDA purview in 2011.
Notably, the Balipatna tehsildar, during investigation, had also found illegal construction of over 100 houses and some temples on encroached Government land near the Ashram which comes under BDA jurisdiction.
Sources in the BDA said action would be taken against the soothsayer based on the court order after the case is disposed of.
