The Supreme Court on Monday posted the next hearing on Kalahandi district’s Jaring-based Sardar Rajas Medical College (SRMC) to April 19.
The case was scheduled to be heard on Monday after the court had directed the State Government on January 12 to relocate the SRMC students to three other medical colleges in the State.
Hearing the petition filed by medicos of three medical colleges challenging the Orissa High Court order, the apex court posted the next hearing to April 19.
In its earlier order, the apex court had directed the State Government to complete the admission process within seven days keeping the admission fees at par with the Government medical colleges.
Notably, the Medical Council of India (MCI) had withdrawn the SRMC’s recognition and affiliation on grounds of poor infrastructure and inadequate faculty strength earlier last year.
The students had then approached the Orissa High Court, which asked the Government to facilitate their admission in two Government and three private medical colleges.
Following this, a Special leave Petition (SlP) was filed by students of three medical colleges (VIMSAR, MKCG and Hi-Tech) at the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s decision.
Besides, the students had staged protests at the VIMSAR and the MKCG Medical Colleges preventing the SRMC students from going ahead with admission in Government colleges.
