Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Surjya Narayan Patro is using the four-km road from Padmanabhpur panchayat in Digapahandi block to Bhusunda for his orchard and his associate crusher owner D Chumuki Rao and her husband Kalia Rao’s interests, alleged social worker Srikant Padhi at a press conference here on Sunday.
The PWD road in Bhusunda is only 300 metre, but the Rural Development Department claimed it as 4 km to avail project clearance from the Central Government. This has raised many eyebrows, said Padhi.
Padhi further said before few years, the Minister, his wife Rajeswari Devi and son Biplab had purchased 6.04 acre land in Rantei Changudei Mouza near Bhimadebpur from A Murthy. Similarly, Rajeswari Devi purchased 4 acre land from a Padmanabpur resident Sahadeb Swain and her son Biplab purchased more than 5 acre. It might be mentioned here that there was no road to the aforesaid land.
However, the Minister using his influence and help of the RD Executive Engineer -II and the SDO sanctioned Rs 1.32 crore under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana for a road to his land. Now the question is how the Government machinery stated 300 metre road as 4 km to get it sanction under PMGSY, questioned Padhi.
Earlier it was alleged that Patra had diverted an over bridge to pass it through his land in the town. As the Chief Minister after knowing everything has remained a mute spectator a memorandum will be submitted to the Prime Minister, informed Padhi.
