Suparno backs BPUT students' demands

SMT. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) chairman Suparno Satpathy has backed the demands of the BPUT students seeking cancellation of exams in view of the Covid-19 infection threat.

Several students of the Biju Patnaik Technical University (BPUT) have begun a virtual protest on social media with a hash tag of #BPUTStopKaroNa.

Satpathy has personally spoken on this to Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal who is also the Chancellor of BPUT.

The three basic demands the students of BPUT have are cancellation of exams, normalisation option where the average of all the previous semesters along with the internal assessment is given out as the final grades and any student wanting to pass  (if has failed under normalisation option) or wanting to better his/her grades be allowed to sit for an online/offline examination on a later date when the Covid-19 situation is better.

Via a tweet Satpathy stated that he sincerely hopes for the authorities to realise that the delay in the decision being taken on the matter and the uncertainty around this is affecting the mental health of many more than those who might catch Covid-19.

The matter has been brought to the notice of the PM,  the Union Minister of HRD as well as  Secretary,HRD, besides the UGC, the AICTE, the Odisha CM.
