Three inmates of the Sudhar Home (for juvenile offenders) here fled by jumping over the compound wall at late night on Friday. A complaint to this effect has been filed by the authorities of the Sudhar Home at the Badyanathpur police station.
Some inmates, after dinner had gone to sleep while a few others were watching TV as usual. Taking advantage of late night, three of the inmates suddenly broke the glass of the bathroom, and through the window of the bathroom they succeeded in getting into the premises and then jumping over the compound wall.
While one of the three inmates was staying in the Sudhar Home since October 2012, the other two were staying there only since last fifteen days, said sources. The Sudhar Home authorities searched the nearby areas to locate the three juveniles, but in vain.
Ironically, the incident took place on the day Arun Kumar Champatiroy joined the Sudhar Home as its new Superintendent. The Superintendent and his staff are reportedly tightlipped about the incident. The BNPur police are investigating into the case.
Incidents of chasing and infighting among the inmates, protests by them against inferior quality food and security lapses had come to the fore several times in the past.
