A 26-year-old woman was arrested and forwarded to court on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping and killing her two-year-old niece in Sundargarh district. According to police, Anjali Kantet of Abankela village under Sundargarh district’s Bhasma police station killed her neighbour Krupakar Disha’s daughter Disha on a revenge mood.

Krupakar had broken Anjali’s marriage proposal with a man with whom she was in love, an FIR filed with the police mentioned. Anjali found Disha playing in front of her house alone on Wednesday morning. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Anjali took the girl to a solitary place and killed her by slitting her throat with a vegetable cutter. The body was later found from an area near Ib River under Jharsuguda disstrict’s Talpatia outpost. “We have arrested Anjali and forwarded her to court on Saturday night. She has confessed to her crime during interrogation,” said Bhasma PS IIC PK Biswal.
