A tribal girl of the district was trafficked to Agra about eight months ago and was allegedly sold there. She narrated her sufferings over phone only recently. An FIR pertaining to the case was lodged by the family members of the girl on Monday in Bargaon police station. The police have now written to Inspector General of Police, Western Range, seeking permission to send a team to Agra to rescue the victim girl from there.
Sources said one Surit Samad of Udarama village in Pamra panchayat under Bargaon police station lodged an FIR on Monday describing that in May 2014, his daughter Aslani Samad (23) had been lured to get a job at Delhi by one Sibani. Sibani allegedly had taken her to Agra and had engaged her in a house there before fleeing from the place.
Working there for some days, when Aslani told the owner of the house to allow her to go home, the house owner refused and told her that he had purchased her. Knowing about this, Aslani was shocked. After eight months of working there, when she got an opportunity, she rang up her younger sister at Sundargarh and narrated her plight. Meanwhile, the police are also now searching Sibani, said IIC Anita Pradhan.
