The alarming increase in the number of labourers migrating from the Sundargarh district in search of jobs to other States and incidences of missing has been a cause of concern.
In another such case, one Luthur Topno (39) of Pamra village under the Bargaon police station in the district had reportedly been trafficked to Ramgarh in Jharkhand by agents Gobinda Kisan and Sanjay Lakra of Machulapada village on December 9.
But after a few days, Topno’s wife Maheswari got information that her husband had gone missing. Since then, she has been running from pillar to post to trace him. She met the Sundargarh district Collector on Wednesday and requested him to take steps to trace her husband.
Earlier when contacted by Maheswari, Sanjay had assured her that he would pay Rs 1,500 per month to her till Topno is traced. But now Sanjay is avoiding her and not receiving her call.
Bargaon police station IIC Suryakanti Das said that he would take necessary action only after a missing complaint is filed with the PS.
