A girl alleged to have been made pregnant after being lured on promise of marriage and cheated ofRs 7 lakh by a youth in Sundargarh district.
Police after registering a case have conducted medical examination of the victim and recorded her statement.
The victim a 26- year- old tribal Christian girl and a resident of Shankara under Town police station in Sundargarh district alleged that Barun Bhoi(28) of Hemgiri area lured her by lying that he was working in OSAP, Koraput.
Later, he kept physical relationship with the girl.
The girl during the year 2018 became pregnant and on insisting marriage, Barun avoided her on one plea or the other. Barun allegedly had also taken from her around Rs 7 lakh by fraud.
When she came know that Barun had cheated her, she told her to return the money but the latter too started avoiding her and did not receive her call.
Finding no other alternative, she went to the house of Barun about a month ago and told her parents to accept her as the wife of Barun and also demanded that her Rs 7 lakh be returned to her.
She was allegedly beaten by family members of Barun following which miscarriage of her pregnancy occurred. The victim girl recently lodged complaint in the Town police station.
