The deities will be ceremonially adorned with gold ornaments. The decoration will continue from 5 pm to 12 midnight on Tuesday to enable lakh of devotees to have darshan of it.

This Sunavesha, also known as Bada Tadhau Vesha, is one of four Sunaveshas held on different occasions in the Shree Mandir each year. This gorgeous and thrilling golden decoration of the deities on the chariots is believed to have been started in 13th Century by Gajapati Ananga Bhima Dev. He was believed to have donated huge quantity of gold to the temple apart from giving numerous landed properties in the name of Shree Jagannath Mahapravu Bije Puri.

The Suryabansi Maharajas of Odisha followed his footsteps down the generations and have further enriched the Ratna Bhandara with gold as a token of respect to the deities, Shree Jagannath, Shree Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, who are adorned as Raj Rajeswara (the king of kings ).

The deities will be decked up in several types of gold ornaments, the most precious being Shree Chita. Servitors like Khuntia, Singhari and Mekapas will decorate the deities.
