At least eight people, including SUM Hospital owner Manoj Ranjan Nayak on Monday deposed before the Central RDC AB Ota, who is investigating into the Bhubaneswar-based private hospital fire tragedy in which at least 30 patients died.
While Nayak and the BDA Planning Member deposed before the RDC in Bhubaneswar, six others, including five doctors, recorded their statements in Cuttack. A total of eight persons had been served notices to record their statements on the day and all of them turned up, said a source in the RDC office here.
The source further informed that six others have also been noticed to record their statements before the RDC on December 29, the last date to depose. Soon after the completion of the deposition, the RDC would prepare his report and submit it to the Government as soon as possible.
It may be mentioned that the commission had received at least 393 affidavits, of which only 61 concerned persons were issued notices to record their statements. The RDC also exercising his powers under the Commission of Enquiry Act had issued notices to 35 others to depose before him. Although these 35 had not filed affidavits, the commission felt it necessary to record their statements before preparing his report.
