A four-member delegation of the Samajwadi Party on Thursday met the State Human Rights Commissioner (SHRC) and sought his immediate intervention in the issue of the severe lathi-charge on the villagers at the lower Suktel project site in Balangir district.
The delegation urged the commission to intervene in the matter to protect the rights of the local people. This apart, the party also demanded compensation, free treatment facilities of the injured persons and withdrawal of the police cases against the protestors.
