Sukinda royals' marital discord comes to light

A longstanding marital discord within the royal family of the erstwhile Sukinda princely State in Jajpur district has come to the fore.

In an FIR lodged against her husband Yuvraj Anil Kumar Singh Deo at the Jajpur Road police station, Yuvrani Aparajita Singh Deo has alleged that her husband is having an extramarital relationship with a woman employed in a company at Kalinganagar. She has accused her husband of torturing her because of her opposition to the affair.

Based on Yuvrani Aparajita’s complaint, the police have registered case no 123 on May 17 under Sections 498(a)/307/109 against the Yuvraj and a woman employee of a big company in Kalinganagar who allegedly has a relationship with him, said Jajpur PS IIC Road Rajib lochan Panda.

On his part, Yuvraj Anil Kumar has alleged that a complaint sent by him through registered post against his wife to the police has not been registered by the police. The police have not acted on his complaint since his complaint, besides accusing the Yuvrani of torturing him, also named a senior police official of the district in the case, the Yuvraj alleged.

IIC Panda, however, stated that the complaint had not reached him. Sources said the Yuvaraj has gone into hiding apprehending arrest.

Yuvraj Anil Kumar, son of Sukinda king Bhudeb Bhupati Harichandan Mohapatra, has married Khariar princess Aparajita. Shortly after their marriage, she has been subjected to torture at her in-laws’ place under various pretexts, alleged the Yuvrani.

Because of her husband’s torture, her first pregnancy had ended in a miscarriage, she has said in her complaint, adding that she moved out of her in-laws’ house to stay at Ferrochrome Colony with her husband and her baby to save herself from the torture of her in-laws.

But even here, her plight did not end as her husband maintained an extramarital affair with a subordinate woman colleague at his office and tortured her, she alleged.

On the other hand, Aparajita’s father-in-law Bhudeb Bhupati Harichandan Mohapatra has alleged that their daughter-in-law was torturing them with the help of a senior police officer in the district.

He said a case had been filed in the court in the matter on June 6. But under pressure from the senior police officer, the police are not registering his son’s complaint, he alleged.
