Nature is found in her photographs and emotions in paintings, which are displayed at the Jayadev Bhavan here since Thursday.
The Odisha Modern Art Gallery has organised a four-day solo exhibition ‘Shadow of Silence’ of Commissioner-cum-Secretary of State labour and Employment Department CTM Suguna.
Inaugurating the exhibition, veteran painter Siba Panigrahi lauded the creativity of Suguna. Despite being a senior administrator, Suguna pursues her passion for art and involves herself in creativity through her paintings and photography, he appreciated. She has noticeable uniqueness in her work, he added.
“My photographs are mainly nature-centric and paintings are full of emotions,” said Suguna. On her paintings, she said, “I have given different concepts by using acrylic colour.”
On being asked how being a bureaucrat she finds time for painting, she said, “I have to make time for paintings because it is my passion. My pursuing passion does not affect my official work.”
In the paintings titled ‘Silent Tears’ and ‘Fear,’ Suguna depicts the emotions of children at a time when they are depressed and are in panic.
A total of 56 paintings and photographs are on display at the exhibition. Some of the paintings are pencil shadings. Most of the photos capture the natural beauty of Cherapunji (Assam). A photograph of Parijat flower of the Odisha Secretariat garden is also exhibited.
Among others, painters Bibhuti Kanungo and Baladev Prasad Maharatha were present at the inaugural session. Gajendra Prasad Sahoo coordinated the programme and Odisha Modern Art Gallery founder Tarakanta Parida gave a vote of thanks. The exhibition will conclude on Sunday.
