Sudip's arrest: Wife cries political vendetta

Published on:

Naina Bandyopadhyay, wife of arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay who is now remanded in a six-day CBI custody for his alleged complicity with the tainted Rose Valley chit fund company, on Thursday alleged political vendetta as the reason behind the arrest of her husband.

Naina, a TMC MlA herself, who was at the CBI office here, also alleged that the BJP is using the Central investigation agency to target the TMC.

“From back-to-back arrest of two TMC MPs, it is evident that political vendetta is the reason behind Sudip’s arrest. The BJP is using the CBI,” Naina told mediapersons.

Though it remained unclear whether Naina deposed before the CBI or she on her own had gone to the office to meet her husband, official sources said she spent around an hour in the CBI office.

Meanwhile, BJP State vice-president Sameer Mohanty alleged that the ruling BJD is arranging people for the TMC’s proposed protest rally in Bhubaneswar on Jan 10 here.

Sudip Bandopadhyay was arrested by the CBI on Tuesday two days after the arrest of another TMC MP Tapas Paul.
