Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) State president Halu Mundari on Thursday slammed party’s former leaders Sudam Marandi, Nihar Surin and others for quitting the JMM and joining the BJD.

“They joined the BJD by quitting the JMM for their own interest, ignoring the interest of tribal community,” Mundari said in the presence of party’s national president Sibu Soren at a rally held at Gurundia under Sundargarh district. Soren hit the campaign trail at two meetings in the district to garner support for his party candidates in the Bonei and Biramitrapur Assembly constituencies.

Addressing the rally, Soren urged the tribal mass to remain united under the banner of the JMM to fight for the cause of the tribal community. “JMM has always been a party of tribal community and no other party in the country is as committed as JMM for their development,” Soren said. He appealed to the public to vote in large number for JMM candidate for the Bonei Assembly constituency Patras Ekka.

In his speech, Senior JMM leader and Jharkhand Home Minister Champei Soren branded Naveen Patnaik as’anti-tribal’.“The much publicised Kalinga Nagar incident, where in about thirteen tribals were killed in police firing, is the bright example of tribal suffering under the regime of Naveen Patnaik,” he said.He urged upon the tribals to reject Naveen Patnaik in the ensuing elections.
