'Successive price hikes to ruin common man'

After petrol, diesel and sugar, now a Rs16.50-price hike of non-subsidised cooking gas cylinder is a direct attack on the kitchen of common man, said Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera in a Press release here On Tuesday.

“If the Government fails to roll back the recent hikes in the prices of cooking gas, petrol and diesel, the Samajwadi Party would take the issue to the street,” said Behera, adding that the party would also protest the Government not controlling the prices of potato and onion.

Notably, the people of Odisha would be the worst sufferers as the State Government has also increased the value added tax (VAT) from 18 per cent to 20 per cent on petrol and diesel while introducing State Budget recently, he pointed out. “All likeminded progressive political parties should come forward to fight against price rise and inflation,” Behera said.
