Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday announced the appointment of Odessa-born Karnataka-cadre IAS officer Subhash Chandra Khuntia as the next Chief Secretary of the State.
The 1981-batch officer was born in Jagatsinghpur district. He will take charge onOctober 1 on repatriation from Central deputation. Even though he was set to retire on June 30, he was given an extension of service. Though Upendra Tripathy is Karnataka’s senior most IAS officer and set to retire next month, the Chief Minister overlooked him for the CS post.
