In a bizarre incident, a doctor, who had joined as a senior Medical Officer in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here, is working in Cuttack and getting his salary as MO of Subarnapur DHH for the last two and a half years.
According to information, Dr Debasish Acharya had been transferred to Subarnapur DHH from Cuttack on September 21, 2013. But he joined the DHH October 7, 2013. But the same day he was sent to the Acharya Harihar Cancer Research Centre in Cuttack on deputation by an order of a letter issued by an Additional Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department. Since then he has been working in Cuttack and taking salary from Subarnapur.
When lots of doctor posts are lying vacant in KBK districts , how Acharya was transferred and relieved on the same day without a replacement has been questioned by many.
As per the CDMO, the doctor, though withdrawing salary as Subarnapur DHH MO, yet he is not getting any house rent.
“While many doctor posts are lying vacant across Subarnapur, a doctor of the DHH working on deputation outside for so many years shows how the Government is concerned about tribals’ health,” said locals.
