Rights activist Srikumar Mahanta has filed a petition at the Chief Minister Office (CMO) urging disciplinary action against the Binka BDO for disobeying an order of CMO and another of the Collector, Subarnapur.
He filed the complaint after the Binka administration continued to ignore a poor family which is need of funds for treatment of a 20 years old who is an invalid and suffering from a critical disease.
Harishchandra Hota and his wife Padmini Hota, residents of Bhandar village in Binka block, are the ill-fated parents who have exhausted all their money in treatment of their only son Ashutosh but to no avail.
While his friends in this year are active and agile, Ashutosh remains confined to his mother’s lap or to a bed as his disease is still not known. Forget normal life, even eating, sleeping and sitting is painful for him.
His father took him too many hospitals of Subarnapur and Burla but in vain. No improvement took place in his health.
While Harishchandra is a daily wager, his wife is a home maker. The couple can’t afford further treatment of their son. Not just that, ignorance and illiteracy have prevented them from seeking help of the district administration or enrol for any type of Governmental assistance.
Earlier on receiving a grievance over the matter, the CMO had directed the Subarnapur district administration to take the necessary step and subsequently the Collector of Subarnapur had asked the Binka BDO to provide relief to the distressed family. But though about two years have passed, Harischandra is yet to get any help.
Mahanta cited it as a rights violation case and requested the CMO to direct the Collector, Subarnapur for fast action in this regard and order the Chief District Medical Officer of Subarnapur to take immediate steps towards Ashutosh’s unknown disease and forward him to Cuttack or any other hospital.
Besides, he also urged for inclusion of the distressed family in PMAY and other Governmental schemes.
