BJP workers along with social workers and college students recently gheraoed the Naikenpali Community Health Centre (CHC) in Subarnapur district demanding appointment of paediatric and gynaecology doctors in the hospital at the earliest.

Though thousands of people belonging to 10 gram panchayats under Tarbha and Sonepur blocks are dependent on it, the CHC has no medicine, paediatric and gynaecology doctors. Though appointed, doctors are not staying here.

It is very difficult on part of pregnant women and children to go to Balangir DHH and Sonepur DHH, which is 30 km from Naikenpali, for treatment. Besides, the 108 Ambulance service in is in a limbo here, lamented Baldev Bdebak, who led the agitation.

“If the district administration doesn’t fulfill our demands, locals will intensify the agitation,” warned Human Foundation, Tarbha president Srikumar Mahanta.

They withdrew the agitation after the ADMO assured them in written that a 108 Ambulance would be provided in two months’ time and paramedical staff recruited soon. He too assured that a blood back would be established at the CHC soon.

ZP member Rajendra Bishi, Gupteswar Bapi, college students’ union president Amrut Naik, Gyana Naik, Sradhhanjali Mishra and 350 locals participated.
