Demanding early appointment of adequate number of teachers in the Belghar Residential High School under Tumudibandha block in Kandhamal district, a group of 54 students walked for 30 km to the block office and staged a dharna on Wednesday morning.
The students holding placards and shouting slogans crossed forests and hills to reach the block. Alleging that their repeated requests for appointment of teachers have fallen on deaf ears, they demanded that all vacant posts of teachers for Classes VII and IX filled up at the earliest.
After block officials assured them of early steps, the students returned to schools, according to reports.
