The Annapurna Vidyapitha under Bhodar Panchayat of Charichhak area under Nimapara block, an old and renowned high school, has reported steady fall in student strength over the years.
Hundreds of students were coming here for getting quality education but now-a-days the number has fallen drastically thanks to late coming of teachers, vacancy in teaching posts, no permanent headmaster, deteriorating quality of education and more importantly, interference of political leaders.
Though the students are in the middle of their academic session, the vacant posts of teachers are not filled despite repeated demands. The guardians are worried about the present situation of the high school.
Nearly 100 students are in 9th and 10th classes.
When asked, the in-charge HM said that things would be all right within a short span of time. He however could not answer satisfactorily on filling the vacant Hindi teacher post. The incumbent Hindi teacher has gone in deputation whereas now school has no extra Hindi teacher.
Meanwhile, Puri district education officer (DEO) said he was trying to fill the vacancies in the school soon.
One Krushnachandra Rout, a social activist and farmer leader, said there is a need to stop all political interferences in the institution.
