Students crammed into small rooms in Athagarh

Published on:
The colleges of Athagarh sub-division are pitted against classroom and staff shortage after the State Government asked them to at least 20 per cent extra admission this academic session. Most of the colleges have not long halls to accommodate a huge bulk of students.
The principals are finding it tough to create sections as the colleges do not have sufficient rooms and permanent staff to conduct all the classes. The class rooms are meant to accommodate 128 students each.Due to shortage of class rooms, many classes have to be suspended, said sources. Some lecturers said it was very difficult to control the students crammed in small class rooms.
On the other hand, the students alleged that they do not get seats in the class rooms. All the eight aided colleges and eleven Block Grant colleges of the sub-division have been facing the same problem.
