Students' body demands job guarantee after edu

The Navnirman Chhatra Sangathan (NNCS) organised a meeting here on Saturday and discussed on several burning issues of the State, including farmer suicides and unemployment.

As chief guest, Sambad editor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik spoke on the role of students in nation-building and exhorted them to be involved in various burning issues like farmers’ suicide, corruption and unemployment for bringing in reforms in the society.

The NNCS members said that while private engineering and management colleges were mushrooming in the State, students fail to get jobs. They demanded guarantee of employment after education and to stop farmers’ suicide.

Economist Natawar Khuntia said students can now discuss all the matters through social media like Facebook and Twitter. “Our Government is distributing umbrella and cycle as freebies to people, but we are not thinking about setting up factories here to manufacture such items to ensure employment generation.”

Navnirman Krushak Sangha leader Akhaya Kumar said students should raise their voice against farmers’ suicide. NNCS convener Manwar Ali presided over the meeting. Among others, Rashmiranjan Biswal, Bhashkar Majhi, Sammer Mallik, Debasmita Rout, Selina Digal and Sarat Nayak were present.
