While teachers were offered puja elsewhere on the Teacher’s Day, the headmaster of a Government school was alleged to have beaten students on the day in Bonei sub-division.
On receiving a complaint, lahunipada Block Education Officer is going to conduct an inquiry as schools have been made punishment-free zones.
According to sources, headmaster B Patra of Bhutuda Government Nodal UP School caned the students on the Teacher’s Day who did not properly carry out her order of lifting bricks and keeping them at a place in order in the school premises.
When asked, the victim students told that the headmaster was regularly engaging them in work in the school premises. There is rule that teachers cannot engage students in any work.
