As many as six colleges were closed sine die on Monday as student unrest continued to prevail over rejection of nomination papers submitted for Students’ Union elections in these colleges.
The colleges which were declared sine die are Khordha Government Women’s College, Godabarish Mahavidyalaya at Banpur, Nirakarpur College, Talcher Autonomous College, Baripada Women’s College and Anandapur College Keonjhar district.
While students damaged chairs and furniture in the Khordha Government Women’s college alleging that the college authorities rejected nomination papers in order to stop polls, the students at the Godabarish Mahavidyalay locked the college gate and staged a dharna.
The Talcher Government College was closed as two groups of students scuffled in the college premises.
In the Anandapur College, students ransacked the Principal’s office and the Staff Common Room and set some furniture on fire.
