The headmaster of Karagam School in Nabarangpur district, who was arrested for allegedly molesting and sexually assaulting a Class VIII student and charged under Section 354 (a) of the IPC and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, was produced in court on Saturday.
According to police, father of a Class VIII tribal student of Karagam School under Dabugam block complained to the police on Friday that headmaster Kailash Chandra Behera would ask her daughter to go to his bedroom for sweeping it regularly. As she followed his instructions, Behera would molest her and assault her sexually. later, he would threaten her not to disclose the fact to anybody lest she would get harsh punishment, including dismissal from the hostel.
However, when the act of the teacher continued ceaselessly, the girl mustered the courage and informed her ordeal to her parents, who promptly filed a police complaint on August 28 last against the headmaster with the Dabugam police.
