Attending online class atop a mountain for better network connectivity proved fatal for a Class-VIII student in Rayagada district as the 13-year-old slipped and fell off the mountain while attending online class on Tuesday evening.
Andriya Jagaranga of Kandha Pandraguda village in the district was a student of the Cuttack Missionary School. He had gone back to his village after physical classes were suspended due to Covid-19. However, he used to climb atop a mountain a few furlongs away in the locality to attend online classes regularly. On the fateful day, he sat on a stone on the mountain for better network and attended online classes. At around 5 pm, the stone slipped from the mountain all of a sudden, following which the boy lost control and fell down.
Receiving information, a firefighting team reached the spot and rushed a critically-injured Andriya to the Padmapur Community Health Centre. After primary treatment, doctors referred him to the MKCG Medical College Hospital in Brahmapur. However, he succumbed to his injuries even before being shifted to the MKCG Hospital.
